Why Don't We..

  1. Why don't we just hire a bunch of volunteers who want to voluntarily work on clans (and Im sure there's plenty). We can just get the whole community on developing clans and getting it revived. Like, bro just tell us what to do and we'll do it. Lets just put all our focus on Clans and Champions Game types... they're the only thing unique about Mineplex and should acquire the most attention out of anything else on the server.

  2. It's sounds like a good idea initially, but the developers and anyone who has access to any of the code/databases etc. needs to be under contract and NDA. There used to be a Junior Developer rank that sort of fit this purpose but we all know that isn't coming back. It would be too much work to get loads of people on for one specific thing, and hypothetically when that 'thing' is finished, they all disappear. Clans and Champions aren't the biggest games on Mineplex, even though they are arguably the most original, so developer time is being focused on Nano Games and Cake Wars because they are. The individual developer does not dictate what they work on themselves, this is normally decided by leadership as far as I know, although they do have some spare time to work on parts of their choosing.

    Another issue with bringing on loads of volunteer developers is every developer has a different way of coding, some create their own utilities, some use random Maven libraries etc. They'd all have to quickly learn the way Mineplex's project works before being able to actually push changes. There's also the fact that developers are essentially opped (minus a few DeanTM/Owner+ level commands), they have exactly the same permission set as the Admin rank excluding the commands they give themselves for testing their changes. There'd probably also have to be some sort of system to make sure that the volunteer developers aren't coding backdoors or silently abusing their permissions in games which is a possibility.

    tl;dr Whilst more developers would work, hiring loads of voluntary randoms from the community would pose serious security risks and the legal contracts with the NDA etc. could also pose as time issues.

  3. I am definitely for some sort of team that can bring forward concrete ideas and suggestions for clans. You could set up a community team for it or open up a discussion with a CM(A) member for something like this. Player feedback is very important and it could also be more help than hassle for the development of these games as they have been neglected.

    There's no way volunteer developers would be picked up, however, as for reasons Macho outlined above. But an actual Ideas Team specifically catered towards Mineplex Classics that is always pumping out ideas to the correct people could be interesting.

    As always, if you know anyone that would be capable to develop for Mineplex and be a paid employee, have them take their shot at jobs.mineplex.com

  5. Clans actually does have a sort of community Ideas Team called CI (Clans Insights). Although it isn't 'official' yet, it's been running for several years and they have quite a big input towards updates, now more than ever. It's a group of community members led by @Jarif. A large majority of the ideas for Season 7 came from/went through the CI team. They get a large amount of their ideas from the Official Clans Discord in the #ideas channel. CM(A) and CI had regular meetings talking about Season 7 when we were planning the update. They might even push towards trying to be an 'official' team like IT, because they are already treated like one.

    @maevestarbaby I assume this is what you were suggesting, but it already exists.
