    The most appealing shape to me is a pyramid, mainly because of how it has been used throughout history to build some of the greatest structures.

    Wackiest one I can think of is a Möbius Strip. The wackiest way I've seen it used or mentioned is in an explanation of how we should move our hips in a style of Karate. I think it influenced the creation of mathematical topology as a field of study - properties of shapes.
    Rhombicosidodecahedron is another good one... There's a Big Bang Theory moment where it's mentioned.
