How Mineplex can fix hacker problem

Discussion in 'MCO/Bedrock Games' started by ItsCrispin, Jan 27, 2023.

  1. Alright let's get straight to the point. I don't like hackers and neither do you. There is a popular hack client for bedrock called Horion Injector, which doesn't work on the newest version of Minecraft. I have seen from many sources that it will crash your game when you try to inject. So, Mineplex should update to 1.19.50. Easy fix. Thank you for your time.

  2. I doubt it’s gonna fix much bc the hackers will just switch clients but Mineplex won’t change the version anyways.

  3. Mineplex haven't updated their version on bedrock in so many years, we are like 100 versions behind I swear. I doubt anything will change

  4. The reason they don't update is because alot of people would be upset that they can't use 1.8 PvP. If you want to avoid hackers, I'd just find a good MPS Community with regular MPS. Now Maee makes good MPS, but unless the hackers are disrupting everyone they won't ban them, so? biblefish makes cool MPS but it's not very often they go up.

  6. Not wanna ruin the fun, but you do know that hacks (horion, or otherwise) tend to receive regular updates, making a change in server version pretty much pointless?

  8. Why hack in the first place though? I'm super competitive so it doesn't make sense why someone would cheat at an easy kids game. Yesterday me and my friend were playing micro battle and it took 2 hours to find 3 different hackers. And now i got to wait a week for them to get the ban? Thats what really kills me about the hackers is that if no one is ever reporting them in the report player forum it could be weeks before they are ban.

  9. Alright hear me out. I have been playing on mineplex java since 2015, and let me just say that if bedrock has the same type of developers and staff there is no hope for a fix for hackers. Not to be that one pessimistic guy but I wouldn't get you hopes up.

  10. I agree. I don't understand hacking but when the accessibility to these cheats is so easy most people will give them a try. With reports, they can be a bit slow atm as the reports team isn't huge in ratio with the amount of reports we get.

  11. I don't want to sound rude, but that could be one of the reasons.

Not everyone is that competitive, some people simply aren't that good, some people don't even have the ability/time to get that good, some just like chilling in games for a bit, so when a competitive player comes along, trying their absolute best to win the game all the time, playing super agressively, etc., they may get a annoyed or upset.

And some of those annoyed and upset people, either to not lose without having to get good, or on the principle of "if u ruined my game, imma ruin yours", turn to cheats.

Only 3 hackers in 2 hours? I do not play micro battles, but in cake wars, "just" 3 hackers over a 2 hour span sounds like a miracle sent by god himself, at least in my experience.

A week? this may just be my experience, from the time I used to report people regularly, but "just" a week sounds generous considering I often had to wait 2-4 times as much to have some of my reports looked at sometimes.

The lack of people reporting is just one problem with this whole system. There also is the fact that people can just make new accounts, completely for free, after getting banned, making the whole system pointless unless we started banning people over even minor suspicions of hacking.

Because, as of right now, banning a hacker, or any other rule breaker, looks something like this:
    1. you take your time and effort to get video evidence of the person commiting "the crime"
    2. you report him
    3. after an unreasonably long time, someone may look at the report (yes, 1 week, or 2-3 weeks, or whatever, is unreasonable, in fact: ANYTHING above 48 hours, in a system that allows making new accounts for free, is unreasonable, as as much as minor indications of someone possibly cheating should be enough)
    4. the report gets accepted, and the guy probably gets banned (emphasis on probably, I actually had encounters with people I had reports accepted on, running around as if nothing happened, not too many, but still)
    5. Now that the guy maybe is banned, he will go, and make a new account, and just go back to what he was doing, and that, after, just as a reminder: you going through the effort of reporting him, someone else taking his time and going through some effort to look at the report, and decide if he is guilty

And btw, just randomly I wanted to mention, coming back to what you said earlier, one of the main reasons as to why people don't report on the forums, besides the unreasonable amount of effort and time required to do that compared to the little pay-off it gives, is the fact that many people use the ingame/the xbox report system, which may not sound that bad, until you realise that the only offences they actually care about are chat related offences

because, for cheating, "the problem" is that, even as a microsoft/minecraft partner, mineplex is still a privately owned server owned by an entity separate from microsoft, meaning they have the right to have and enforce their own rules, rendering any xbox reports about cheating useless as mineplex may (and probably does) have their own definition of "cheating" compared to microsoft

Especially when you consider that microsoft/mojang has nothing against people modifying their own game, no matter the purpose, if they had problem with that, then there would not be any new minecraft mods, or really any form of 3rd party game modification, since 2013.

The only offences the xbox reports do seem to work against (according to my own experience at least) are, as I said, chat related offences, like being toxic or insulting people, etc., and even then the "worst" I saw happen was a 3-day multiplayer ban, which again can be "bypassed" by just playing on an alt account.

So, basically, people not only feel like its too much effort to report through forums, but way too many people use a system that only does very little against only a few specific things.

  12. Unfortunately the hacker problem will never be fixed, because even by updating to latest versions, or doing things in our power to stop the hackers like implementing more report functions, etc the clients will always update their mods to where there is a work around. The bigger issue like the player above me stated is it's so easy to get more accounts and just be back to hacking even if you got banned on a previous account. While all the report functions we have like on the forums are great, Bedrock is in an even bigger mess since it doesn't have a report function in game like Java. The biggest changes that Mineplex can make on their end to help the problem would be to implement that, and potentially do anticheat work within Bedrock, however without the dev time needed to accomplish either it will become even harder to actually stop the hackers.
