  2. Very helpful thread, It was a massive help for me to get an idea of the application process and gave me ideas for my application. This thread actually helped me quite a lot in getting Trainee!! Thanks Fire for the thread and regular updates when they are necessary!!

  3. Where I help most is in StaffRequest (community). Can community chats be seen in the observation stage? I dislike it when I know I have what is required of me but staff didn't get a chance to see it. At the same time, not everybody needs help at times and it's not our fault. If that's the case, the "not helpful" denial reason will be an overwhelming challenge to tackle.

I think what you have to remember here is that you are not just reviewed based on one performance over say a day, but rather you are observed on your actions and helpfulness over a substantial period of time, through this time they will review weather you are helping and just generally behaving in a courteous manor.

  5. We can see community chats if we're in the community. Since you're talking about StaffRequest, I'm pretty sure everyone in Recruitment is in the com. If you're helpful and show potential, we'll see it or hear about it. When someone is denied for not being helpful, it's not because we "missed" them being helpful. The denial reason has to do with your overall helpfulness, and it's not just one instance of not being helpful, but multiple. The observation stage is usually the longest stage of the entire application process, and there's a reason for that. I can't go too much into detail since it is *very* secret, but Fire's explanation of the denial reason pretty much covers all the reasons why someone might be denied for "not helpful". I would suggest re-reading it if you haven't already done so.

  6. If I'm online for say, an hour a day and nobody happens to need help whenever I'm on. Do I still get denied for that reason? It's not necessarily my fault because not being helpful is when you have the chance to help but choose not to. Let's say I never got a chance. Will the observation stage just take longer? It's also considered "faking" my personality when I go around lobbies asking if people need help and is something trainee tryhards do that is quite annoying.

  7. I don't believe it works like this. If no one is needing help then it's not that you're being unhelpful, it's just not one is requiring it. In that instance, that denial reason isn't applicable as you aren't being "not helpful". Not being helpful refers to ignoring questions and just overall not communicating with others in chat. If you make an effort to do so and keep your eye on chat, I doubt you'll have a problem with this.

    My suggestion to you is just to relax a bit, and don't think so much into it. The recruitment team has successfully handled thousands and thousands of applications, many of which made it to the observations stage. They know what they are doing and know how to genuinely determine thing like if an applicant is helpful or not. They know what they're doing so just focus on being the best you can in all aspects, and trust that they'll notice that.

  8. hey prof! let me tell you from experience that there is rarely a time during your trainee acceptance waiting that there will be a player without help. As sophie said above me, the recruitment team is very experienced and process hundreds of applications every month. Therefore, they won't be denying you for not being helpful if there is truly no one needing help. With this being said, there are always ways for the recruitment team to check if you are helpful in-game, thought I can't say much because the observation stage is very secretive :shrug:! Just make sure that you are ALWAYS active when in game, whether that is conversing with random people and getting to know them, or providing links for players needing redirection. I remember having a table of all the Mineplex links so I could respond as fast as I can when someone had a question.

    I wouldn’t hassle about that, if nobody needs help that means mineplex is doing something right. But if you do come across someone that does need help, or just joined maybe point them in the right direction and show them or help them out with whatever they need. And if you don’t know, it’s alright, nobody’s perfect just tell them you don’t know and at least you probably made a friend in the outcome.

  10. I never really posted my opinion on this thread, but anyone who knows me and has talked to me about applying knows that I link this thread constantly. It's possibly one of the most useful threads there is when it comes to applying for an application, and I just want to praise @FireStar, @DeanTM, and the rest of Recruitment for their amazing work not only just on this thread, but also the work they put in to finding Mineplex's newest faces on the staff team. I am aware it's a lot of hard work but I imagine to them it's rewarding to see just how great they can make Mineplex by inducting some of the best people onto the team. It's an in-depth process, no doubt, but certainly wonderful and most definitely necessary.

    This thread obviously helped me immensely when it came to applying. The recruitment process was such a great read as it provided me with just interesting information about the process, as well as gave me insight into what I might expect while going through the application, interview, observation, and induction process. The rejection reasons helped me understand what I might need to know when an application is declined, and also provided me the things that are expected of me as a possible staff member.

    This is just an appreciation post, and the amount of work that Recruitment does honestly makes me want to be on the team hopefully someday in the future. For now, the first part is just getting past my EoT and the first couple weeks of Mod :)

  12. I appealed my permanent Discord ban yesterday. My trainee application is ready in about 3 months. I’m well aware that you can apply as soon as you appeal a severity 4 punishment but it probably is still better to wait a bit. Will 3 months be enough to show that I’ve learnt my lesson? This might come back to bite me if I don’t take a few months off.

  13. Hey! The amount it takes to show you have learned your lesson is different depending on what you think is suitable. I waited around 6 months before actually giving my application a try after my SEV 3 Hacking ban. It is totally up to you. As long as you show in your app that you have learned your lesson then any amount of time should be suitable. Taking a few months downtime before applying tho is always the best option in my personal opinion.

  14. Like stated above, just explain the reason why you were punished, when, and how. You should explain what you have learned from this punishment, and how you’ll prevent it in the future. Also just wait a couple of months, as there is a punishment waiting time.

  15. Honestly, you're better off messaging a Recruiter directly about this that way you'll get the most accurate answer. Seeing as how you were punished for posting screamers... and the severity of what you did is so high, it probably will effect your application no matter when you submit it or how long it's been since you were banned. There isn't a set time to prove that you changed. You just have to show that you've changed.

    Just put yourself in the Recruitment teams position and ask yourself if you'd accept an applicant who got permanently banned on Discord for posting screamers 3 months ago. What would you want to see from the applicant to prove that they're more mature to handle a staff position? How would said applicant go about improving? With these questions in mind, improve yourself and go from there. Recruitment will see if it's just a facade or not so apply when you're sure you're ready.
